  • Popular Ganesh Mantras

    1. Ganesh Beej Mantra

    ॐ गं

    Om Gaṃ

The seed mantra—shortest and most concentrated form.

    2. Vakratunda Mahakaya

    वक्रतुण्ड महाकाय सूर्यकोटि समप्रभ।

    निर्विघ्नं कुरु मे देव सर्वकार्येषु सर्वदा॥

Meaning: "O Lord with curved trunk and massive body, whose splendor equals a billion suns, please make all my undertakings free from obstacles, always."

    3. Ganesh Gayatri

    ॐ एकदन्ताय विद्महे वक्रतुण्डाय धीमहि।

    तन्नो दन्ति प्रचोदयात्॥

Meaning: "We meditate on the one-tusked one, we reflect on the curved-trunk one. May that tusked one inspire us."

    Pronunciation Guide

    The Beej Sound: गं (Gaṃ)

This is the most important sound in Ganesh mantras:

  • "Ga" - standard "g" sound (voiced velar stop)

  • "ṃ" - anusvara: a nasal resonance

  • The "ṃ" should vibrate in your nasal cavity
  • Common Mistake: Saying "gam" with a hard "m" stop. The anusvara should resonate, not stop.

    Gaṇapataye (गणपतये)

  • "Ga" - as above

  • "Ṇa" - retroflex "n" (tongue curled back)

  • "Pa" - standard "p"

  • "Ta" - dental "t"

  • "Ye" - "yay"
  • Common Mistake: Using dental "n" instead of retroflex "ṇ."
