Durga is the supreme manifestation of Shakti — the cosmic feminine principle. She is the warrior goddess created from the combined energy of all the gods, the gentle Parvati, the fierce Kali, and the universal Mother who sustains all existence.
The foundational cosmic feminine principle — Prakriti, the active, dynamic creative force complementing Purusha (Shiva). As the Tantras declare: Shiva without Shakti is "shava" (a corpse). She performs the five cosmic acts: Creation, Preservation, Destruction, Concealment, and Grace.
