The most visited temple in Vrindavan. Unique worship where the curtain before the deity is repeatedly opened and closed — the deity's beauty is considered so overwhelming that prolonged gazing is not possible.

History

Founded in the mid-16th century by Swami Haridas, the guru of the legendary musician Tansen. The deity was originally discovered in Nidhivan, a sacred grove in Vrindavan.

Relatively simple exterior belying the intense devotional atmosphere within. The small sanctum creates an intimate darshan experience. Nidhivan nearby is the associated sacred grove.

Open 7:45 AM–12 PM, 5:30 PM–9:30 PM (winter hours vary). No aarti with lamps except on Sharad Purnima. Extremely crowded during festivals.
