Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati

Famous for its gold-adorned Ganesha idol and being the epicenter of Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Pune. The temple trust organizes one of the most spectacular festivals in India.

History

Established in 1893 by Dagdusheth Halwai, a sweetmeat seller, after the loss of his son. Lokmanya Tilak promoted Ganesh Chaturthi as a public festival here, making it a center of the Indian independence movement.
